- Safe Routes to Schools. The City recently applied for a Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) grant, but was unsuccessful. SRTS is a national program that was started in Marin County which seeks to encourage and enable more children to safely walk and bike to school.
If you would like to help start SRTS activities at your school contact Christal Waters.
- Enterprise Bike Column
Davis Bicycles! now has a biweekly column in the Davis Enterprise.
We welcome volunteers willing to write, proof and encourage columns. Submissions can focus on any topic relating to biking
in Davis: history, humor, encouragement, personal observations, tips on riding, storage, safety, health and environmental
benefits, infrastructure ideas, etc. Our goal is to increase bike awareness in Davis. The see past columns or learn more go to the
Bike Column page. Or, get in on the ground floor of this
project by contacting Joe Krovoza.

- "Zen and the Art of Bicycle Commuting: How to Commute from Davis to Sacramento by Bicycle" is a 28 minute instructional video produced and directed by Ken Celli, Vice President of DB!
This video acquaints viewers with bike commute routes from Davis to downtown Sacramento.
It familiarizes viewers with logistical issues involved in bike commuting, including an approach to deal with the details of what to bring and how to bring it.
It gives viewers a clear picture of the true time commitment involved, in relation to distance travelled.
It gives viewers an understanding of the Davis to Sacramento bike commuter culture and why commuting is "cool."
Finally, it explains why building a connection between the Old Route 40 Bike Path and the Pelz Overcrossing is essential to increasing the number of new commuter-cyclists from Davis by safely separating cyclists from the increased traffic due to freeway metering lights and the soon-to-be-constructed Target store. The video is narrated by Davis radio host Allison Keenan and tells the story through interviews with Davis bicycle commuters. The video project was a collaboration of the UC Davis Education for Sustainable Living Program, Davis Media Access and Davis Bicycles!
